Has anyone noticed a measurable EGT decrease by advancing timing?
Going from stock to 16* on my truck I dropped a couple hundred degrees. That put me at 1300* WOT with the mods i had then.
Since adding my DV's, I can now peg the gauge on 1500* by 60mph or so with the converter unlocked, which keeps my RPM up past 2400 all the time.
If i roll into it in overdrive with the TC locked around 1800-2000rpm the gauge climbs slow and it takes a lot to get it past 1300* doing that until it gets in the higher RPM.
So i think the higher RPM is what is bringing my EGT up. What would 2 or 3 more degrees of timing do for my EGT's? You guys think it would bring it back down pretty good?
Im not going to do it until i stud the head with a new gasket, but I do have the studs and a timing kit laying here.
Just curious what everyone thought. I think especially with my little 160 pump, that it would really like the extra timing.
