How to tell what programmer is on a Dmax?

Is there a way to tell what programmer is on a truck currently?

Buddy bought a used Dmax and it seems to have a program on it other than stock, since it runs pretty good and it smokes more than stock.

Is there a way to tell what it is or return it to stock if need be?

the computer can be reflashed to make it stock again

If it's a program in the ecm, NO. If he wants to tune it different or return it to stock use EFILive.

if there is a program flashed into the computer now, he can bring it back to a local dealer and have them do a reflash on it for around $100 bucks. then it will be back to 100% stock.
