Hello Everyone,
I am hoping to get some input on a few modifications I am planning on doing to my 02 235 hp, 5 speed, Dodge cummins. Except for an Air Dog 150 it is basically stock. I use it for a daily driver and some pretty heavy towing (25,000-38,000 lbs gross, 30,000 being the average).

I am considering DDP 75 or 110 HP, or Mach 1.6 (90 HP) injectors, HX 40 turbo, and some kind of module that I haven't decided on yet (I was thinking about a TS MVP or something from TST, I don't need something with EGT, manifold pressure, or fuel pressure as I already have those gauges in stalled).

The reason for the HX 40 turbo is because I can not afford twins and if I understand it correctly the HX40 is an upgrade that can be done to the stock 35 for about $700, having my stock turbo rebuilt at the same time (let me know if there is a better and comparable way to go here).

Fuel mileage needs to be better or at least stay the same, I don't want to loose my smooth idle, and I would really like to keep the power clean (no added smoke or very little anyways).

Any other suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks for any help

Do you have some sort of upgraded clutch? If not, you're gonna need something, as added power along with pulling that kind of a load is gonna take the clutch in a hurry.

like was said above your gonna need a clutch.

now for the power adders. the DDP 110's are what I have, I love them they work great and dont smoke very much. the 1.6's are supossed to be very good but I havent had any personal experince with them. The MVP is supposed to be pretty good but it dosent tap into the injection pump. the tst box is fairly popular but I think that is fuel pretty hard for a dd, but I could be wrong. Quadzilla has come out with the adreniln(sp) which is suppost to be great. I like the edge juice/attiude but you have guages all ready so you just need the comp which is the same as the juice, and it adds about 120hp.

as for the turbo the hx-40 will be ok but not what you will be lookin for. the 4o is alittle bigger than the hx-35 that you have now, but the shaft in the 40 is weak and is know to fail. thier are a lot of other option for turbos so doing a search on here will help greatly. I would recomend a phat shaft 62/12or 62/14.

all this info is on my experince, you need to think about what you are going to do with the pickup and what your horse power goal is for now cause it is going to go up from here.

Good ideas on the injectors, decent idea on the turbo, I think an S300G would be a better option for about the same price. Plan on a clutch upgrade, South Bend CON O at least, I don't think an OFE would be the best for towing that heavy. On the box, after running one I can say the TS Performance MVP would be an outstanding choice, smooooooooth power with low smoke and easy on the EGT gauge.

Well.....Looks like I will need a clutch.

CM COWS,
I did not know that about the shaft problems regarding the 40, I will look into the Phat Shaft turbos. I really hadn't given the hp ? much thought. Fuel mileage is pretty important so I figured I would get the biggest injectors that are available while still benefiting fuel mileage, upgrade the turbo, find a good module and what I ended up with would be good enough. I was kinda hoping for 350-400 but really had no idea.

Billysgoat,
Thanks for the turbo suggestion, I will look into the S300G. Also, thanks for the feed back on the MVP.

You should be in the 350 range pretty easy with that size injector and a good turbo.
