I just installed a HRVP and Mach 6 over the weekend. Now the truck pulsates and bucks while going 45-55 in OD. It seems to do it the most from 1400-1900 cruising under light throttle. Once I give it some throttle, some smoke will shoot out and the bucking goes away. So I basically can only cruise in OD at 2000 rpm or above, which make it a hassle to drive around town where speed limits are 45 or 55.
BTW the truck is currently has an hx-40, I know, more air is on the way and there’s no electronics yet. Anyone have any similar problems with a HRVP…?

What transmission do you have? I have that problem with mine in OD, but at 45-55 I'm only doing 14-1500RPm with my 3.55s, 35" tires and 6 spd....In my opinion, its just your trucks way of telling you to quit lugging the clutch....LOL

Seems like you would need some sort of timing related box even if it is a mild box.$.02

mine does the same thing with the SO pump

i had to put in a "un-lock converter switch"...anything under 50-55 mph i keep it un locked and over that i turn the switch off and it goes back to normal....i also run a lock-up switch

Try keeping it in 3rd gear when your cruising under 60mph. Mine will buck with these big injectors if I'm in OD at to low of a speed (>60mph) so I flip OD off and the problem is solved. I'm on 35's with 3.54 gears as well.

Stock Automatic, The bucking seems to be a build up of fuel that gets eliminated by the go pedal:st:
Electronics are on the way but first I have to sell the drag comp from my older truck. Thanks for the opinion though, I was kinda wondering how it would react once it's wired.

turn the OD off until about 55-60mph. Im suprised that you dont have a problem with smoke at that speed in OD when trying to accelerate.

I have the same problem with the SO pump but never had that problem with the HRVPs I had. Mine rattled the whole truck at idle with teh stock lines and connectors but with the .093 lines and .120 connectors it was smooth as could be. Might be something to think about.

Any accelerating from 1400-2000 in OD will smoke pretty heavy.

I can’t install the drag comp from my other truck because it’s from a 99. The truck I’m having this problem with is a 02, I called edge and there rep told me there’s a difference in voltage at the map sensor on the 98-00 trucks and the 01 & 02.

My connectors & lines are stock and the truck idles normal, sounds as smooth as my SO pump. I’ve heard these pumps have a different effect on smaller injectors though.

What I'm willing to bet is happening is that your dumping to much fuel in at that low of an RPM and the motor isn't able to burn it all. It's not really a problem with lots of fuel, just a quirk.

I would try the XZT+, they have a tune just for the HRVP.
