Can you drill holes, tap, and weld on these things without tearing them up?

The drill and tap deal wouldnt be a problem, welding may hurt the density of the material and possibly crack, but I dunno for sure. What are you thinking of here?

Want to thread or weld on a bung for this wastegate... Anyt other options besides a spacer for mounting and external gate?

You CAN weld to cast iron but with the drastic heat cycling going on I wouldnt recommend it as the cast iron will be weaker in the welded area.......

You could always get some flanges and get some inconell tubing and make up your own manifold.....
