So the turbo has been on the truck for a week. but the truck sat for a week until I got the updated and fixed wastgate. did that between yesterday and today.

Very nice! Spool is practically identical to that of my old PS62. I should of maybe clocked the wastgate arm a little more forward when we welded it. It's at a perfect 90 degree angle and the actuator is screwed down tight. I'm stuck at 45psi of boost. On the bench, the arm started to budge at 52psi. so I figure drive pressure is helping push it open too. Down right cloudy out the tail pipe. I wanna get this turbo pushing 55-60psi, hopefully it'll clear up the smoke a bit. I'll need a bleed off elbow for that I suppose. I may just clamp a small vice grip on it in the mean time.

Good deal.. My 62 65 13ss spools just like stock.. Hits at 1800rpm's... My stocker had wore out bearings though..

I can get 50psi out of my 64/71/13ss with 150 stixs and a stock pump. With the Smarty off I can hit 45psi. I am hoping once I get dual pumps by next month it will peg my 60 psi boost gauge. After that it will probably go out of efficiency range and a S-480 will be put under it.

Let us know if you can get more out of that turbo.

I bought mine when the SS housings first came out. I got the updated wastegte acuator it helped but I've had vise grips clamped on my hose for 21 months. With stock pump and sticks, Tst on 3,0, and smarty Tnt on 7 I would run 46-48 pounds of boost. Right now stock pump DDp 180's and smarty sw 3 about the same. Before messing around with the Tst alone on 7,5 or higher was the only way to get above 50 psi, even the topped at 55 psi.

why push an s300 that far out of its range.

40psi they fall off the map and start blowing hot air, running it at 48-52 seems to be the sweet spot

Mine runs noticably better at 48psi compared to 40 psi. It's been a good charger though, really tough.

like i said, 48-52 is the sweet spot, slightly hotter air my still make more power than less cooler air. 60psi, most guys get less than a year out of the s300's

Oh i misread sorry, I've got almost 2 years on mine, but looking for a S400 to replace it.

why not use one of the drive pressure wastegate actuators from Bullseye?

I found out about them way to late, and well, I do not wanna take things apart to install anytime soon. It looks like it would be a royal pain in the ass to do while attached to the truck Right now it looks to be easier to just use an elbow with a bleed screw to fine tune things. this morning I managed to disconnect actuator tube, and put an 1/8 NTP plug in the snail. I'll find out tomorrow where the boost comes to with the gate effectively disabled.

I'm tapped and ready to go for a drive pressure gauge. I need to purchase a 4 pod over head deal (to replace the 2 pod), purchase a 0-100 boost gauge for the drive pressure and I was going to plug in a real oil-pressure gauge as well. Once I can monitor drive pressure, I suspect I can regulate boost more effectually right?

Here's a question. If you have the waste gate actuator set to "move" at what I hope is an accurate 50-53psi on my air compressor. One would assuming there's 50-53 psi pressure holding the gate closed right? So once drive pressure is over 50-53 psi, it would just push the gates open that way right? I may need to change to this bulleye deal to even make that 60psi I'm looking for. Am I on track here?

What about the s400

Has HTT or anyone modded it out where it could effectively be used as a single? If yes,.. what mods/housings would it take?

I sure like that turbo in my twins, I totally reworked the gate to bypass enough gas. I was still trying to come up with better gate control when the rods craped out on me.

I was pushing 45 psi only on the primary stage. Poor PM rods.....LOL

drive pressure actuators seem like they would work well, until you run one, then the suck.... at least on a secondary.

I'll second that......so what did you come up with to control your secondary?

Need strong spring at low boost-spool....but on the top end, I need that gate almost right open-very little spring......

I had planned on putting the wastegate actuator that came with the turbo..(with a extension) and then rigging up a adjustable travel limit.... so the gate will only open up to the "sweet point" you want, yet still hold down hard at low boost.

Could use drive pressure as signal, run it through some copper to cool it.

yeah, I could see that... how 'bout driving it off of primary boost?
