HTT 62/14 exhaust housing is leaking pretty good. All bolts are tight. I took a pic, you can see the exhaust on the manifold, its blowing out all around it. Is there a gasket that they make for this or whats the deal??:what:

there's another thread. The metal appears to be warping. I've never seen a seal on that plate on a turbo before.

Jason, do you want me to put the thicker plate on your charger while its here?

Thanks, Man ya think a company like HTT would have ther chit squared away. I wouldnt doubt if my wastegate werent closing all the way either like RonA was talking about.. Oh well, guess the turbo is coming off!*bdh**bdh**bdh*

I don't recall until just recently and reall issues with HTT stuff. Even II's turbo's for that matter. I do recall the Silver series blowing up due to abuse here and there, but you can chalk that up to folks pushing the envelope.

Stupid unfortunate issues with HTT I suspect. cover, I mean, it's a chunk of metal, how the heck does it warp. I wonder if it's just expansion rates between the SS and normal steel? Then the wastgate shaft bending. minor stuff I'm sure they warranty with out question

chris, please do. Might as well not pull it out again for something small.

Is it warped or just leaking some, take it off and use some red hi temp RTV on it and bolt it back up. That will seal it unless warped bad.

Well I talked to the Marketing manager for HTT via PM on this site and he has offered to send me a 2nd plate to back up the original plate at no cost. We will see how it goes!:rockwoot:

I wonder what the cause of the warping is. It seems like we are doing something different now, then in the past. I know we are running higher EGT's and probably higher drive pressures. It just seems that this wasn't happening much until recently. This design has been used for a long time.

it could be as simple as a slight change in the alloy used... like you said, these turbos have been around for a long time now

HTT and company seems to be good to their word. Chris@ED is going out of his way to do correct a situation with my HTT housing as well.

As far as the waste gate actuator issue, the new ones they have now are much much much thicker in every aspect. I hope they hold up better.

the plate leaking is not gonna affect performance

it only leaks gasses that have already gone thru the gate

but the other problem concerns me

if the shaft is twisting and not closing the pucks - that sucks

what is the 'new' turbo? mine is about a yr old

don

ps - its comin off too for a looksy

Not really a performance issue. more of a cleanliness issue.

it could be a safety issue If it's that bad, tho, normally it'll only leak under a load, and then your moving.. so this is rather remote.

It's a performance issue if it's the top turbo on a set of twins. It's also where it would show up the most.
