okay i got a few questions about how an hx55 will perform. first what is the max boost that the hx55 should see racing and how much is it good for everyday driving 50-60psi?

also i have a 180 pump
afc setup for full rack travel
0 plate
Ii dragon flows
pdr 4k springs, going to cds 5k springs eventually.

I'm on the fence about doing delivery valves whether i really need anymore fuel right yet, but if i do them they will be ddp's but if i do im not too concerned, also where can one source a smaller exhaust housing for the hx55 currently it has a 22cm exhaust housing, not quite ideal for street driving. im looking to get something around a 16cm maybe.

heres some info i got from josh's ad back when he was selling them "the inducer on the HX 55 is 2.530 and the back of the wheel is 3.780
they have 22cm housings with 5" exhaust outlets
the bolt pattern for the mounting flange is 3.685 center to center on width and 3.600 center to center on height" now im not exactly sure what all this means i quite sure you can translate this for me. Thanks.

I hate it say it, but if it were me I wouldnt screw around with the HX55 and I'd get a s300 based turbo. My buddy and I messed with a HX52 on a few vechicles and I cant say it worked very good.

I could have sworn that someone machined a HX40 turbine housing to fit a HX55............

i agree but my turbo grenaded about a week ago and i have no turbo right now, and this is all i could find in a pinch, I do have the money for a new 62/71 from htt which is very attractive, but somehow i don't think it will be enough air for 600-650hp fuel only.

Yea JR made 40 housings for 55. Called it his Lil 55. I have one. It sucks for driving, pulling, and racing. .02

how can i get one of these housings? and you have all 5spds correct? so you loose boost while you shift correct? i have a built auto, i loose no boost while shifting going down the track.

No clue where to get one. JR isnt in the business anymore that I know of. And yes I have a 5 speed. But that turbo still isnt gonne be your best bet. What kind of price are you getting on it?

under $300 but then i have to have a custom down pipe made and im buying a t3/t4 adapter and external gate because its not gated.it sucks but its either this or i could put a turbo off a intercooled 1st gen on it and still have waaaay to much fuel. and that turbo is tight and totally free, but its stock.

You would be happier with the 1st get turbo. And with the money your gonna have wrapped up in the 55 to make it work, you could buy a good used charger. One that will fit your application much better and out perform the 55 by far.

im looking and im not seeing much, and thats on comp d, cummins forum and dtr.

I say throw the 1st gen charger on for now. Maybe cut the fuel back a hair or just drive it sensible for now. And look for a better charger. The 1st gen will get you by until you find something better.

Bill Robins was the first to make that hybrid , Jr marketed it

Knew that was going to be epic failure from day one! The only Holset that I know of that works well on the high end is an 82, 40's aren't too bad in a Twin set or low HP as a single but the S300 series rocks for a little turbo.

I heard there was a little more to that story than that.
Is Bill still in business? Last I heard he was pretty much done, this was 3 or 4 years ago though.
