I am running the stock turbo on my 2001 dodge diesel it got an auto so i was told it is a hy 35 not the better hx 35. Put i always thought you couldnt put a sendary turbo on the hy35 cause of the exhuast housing beeing the smaller 9 cm. So my question is how are some people using their hy35 to run twins and whats up with so much trouble with the oil line that goes back to the oil pan. P.S would 125 hp injectors be enough to feed these or would something bigger need to be used what i was planning on doing was a 62/71/13ss with some 125 hp injectors just want to get all info before i get into anything thanks

I could be mistaken, but I think the turbo is a HY9.

When folks do run those as a top turbo, they generally use a large external wastegate. That helps with the smaller exhaust housing.

The 62/13 is a very popular turbo. Back before they started to offer that exhaust housing, most automatic transmission guys picked the 12cm exhaust, and most manual transmission guys picked the 14. The 13 is a great comprimise between the two..

If you have never driven a truck with a larger single, you may want to drive one before you take the plunge. If you can afford the twins, you will like driving them much more then the single.

What are you goals with the truck? That is a fine setup, but you are going to need to take care of the transmission much sooner than later. If you go with those injectors, you will need a transmission very soon.. Parts WILL start to break.

aready had the tranny built to handle what i had in mind, my goal is in the ball park of 600hp on fuel maybe that high the ablilty to tow is main thing i also thoght about peirs towing twins they were featured in one of the diesel power mags in a early month

A towable 600 HP on a single turbo VP automatic truck is pert near out of reach.

Depending on how heavy you want to tow, that is asking a lot.

If 600hp and towable is your goal, twins are pretty much going to be a requirement. That, or you are going to need water/meth or n02 to keep EGTs in check.

if your truck is an auto, its an hy35. 9cm housing.

as far as the housing on the 62 turbos, the 13cm housing are stainless 13.4cm the 14cm housings are regular cast, 13.6cm, almost no noticible difference in size

ok so what was i hearing about people using the hy35 and stacing another one on top for twins
