When it is below 30 degrees outside and i start my 24 valve, the injection pump makes a strange noise even if it is pluged in. After about 45 seconds it quits making the noise and is normal again. Should i be concerned??

What does it sound like? Only thing you can do that I'm aware of is additive and start saving. Plugging it in only heats the block so the fuel is still cold. I doubt it warms up in 45 seconds though.

I use power service. i know plugging it in only heats the block and the fuel may be still thick. i dout it warms up in 45sec too but it does quit after that short period. it sounds like a high pich buzzing . it fires right up though. do you think uping the dose of power service would help? the air dog builds pressure right away. so its not like its starving the vp44.

Are you sure it's the injection pump? The VP44 trucks are know for making power steering noise when cold. Changing to a full synthetic power steering fluid will usually take care of it. You will have to flush out the old fluid. Also make sure that the bracket for the power steering pump that bolts to the block isn't broken.

My 12v does it too, always has when cold.

never thought anything about that. but it dont sound like a power steering whine like as if it was low on power steering fluid. I would much rather i be coming from there then from the vp44.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like the normal power steering whine.

ok so check the pump housing if not that and it still does it change the fluid to a synthetic. ive own the truck 2 years and have never messed with the power steering becides check the fluid level.
