Injection Pump ?

we tried a pump off of a 5speed 99 on an 01 and it wouldnt run right and threw codes but i dont know of 01 on a 99 will or will not
 
Well i figured there for a Ho which means more fuel right? which would be like a HRVP-44 ? on a 1999
 
Pumps are interchangeable.

Most places do not want to do it though. They usually get nailed with an extra fee for switching between H.O. and S.O. pumps. Somewhere, sometime, someone got mad about the additional cost and created this rumor that they are not interchangeable.

The H.O. pump fuels harder on the low end then the S.O. pump, but falls on its face faster then an S.O. pump. (wired tapped).

The S.O. pump isn't as aggressive down low, but will fuel much harder in the upper RPMs.

There are other pumps available. The Monster Pump. A HRVP. These are usually a compromise between S.O. upper end and H.O. lower end. I have a SHO pump from Source Automotive. I switched from a H.O. pump. A little weaker then the H.O. pump on the lower end, but fuels much harder on the upper end. No dyno proof, so take it for what its worth. I did not adjust the wastegate on my turbo when I switched pumps. I've hit 37 peak boost, over a peak boost of 32 on the original H.O. pump (by the blue chip FMS data logger, not by "watching the boost gauge"). I've also hit higher EGTs. 1527 vs 1429. Again, changing nothing but the pump.

Any SO pump will work on any year engine. HO pumps will only work on 6spd trucks. Get the SO pump. I know 4 people who have put an SO pump on their HO trucks and all have reported huge gains in top end pulls along with higher boost and egt numbers and the ability to run their boxes on higher levels.
 
Yeah but i was looking to put a HO on an So truck . Iwould it make a difference if i didn't have any chip? all i got is an EZ. I'm not looking for any incredible gains just a way to get my truck back up and running. i don't do sled pulls or anything lol
 
HO's won't run on SO's for some reason. Not to mention that you won't gain any power and will actually hurt yourself in the long run.
 
This doen't make much sence that the HO pump would not work on the SO truck. I have run the SO pump on my HO truck with bot an HO ECM and an SO ECM.

If mine worked with both ECM's I don't see why it wouldn't work the other way.
 
I'm gonna agree with ya. I don't understand but I've been told that HO's won't work on SO's for some reason.
 
I've read the same thing. Makes no sense, but I have been told that HO will not work on a SO, but the SO will work on a HO.
 
Dont ask me why but if you dont put the same part numbered vp44 on the same truck (almost every year has a different part number) we found it will be low on power and sometimes throw codes. my two cents

I remember about a year and a half ago when everyone was telling me that an SO pump wouldn't work on an HO truck.

I don't think the part numbers matter that much. Go look at II's site and go through as if you were going to by a VP44. They don't ask you what year it is going on, only weather you want an SO, HO, or HRVP. That's it.
 
True. And now that I think about it, I put an 01 SO catcher ECM on an 01 HO truck and never had an issue.
 
I also run a 01.5 SO catcher on my 01 HO 6-speed.

I would hate to offer advice that turns out to be incorrect, (especially with the cost of these things) but there is really no reason a HO pump should not work on an SO engine.

If anyone has DIRECT experience with them not working, they should probably chime in!
