What exactly does a pump test stand do? Does it measure flow or pressure or what? Does it measure each cylinder individually?
Just trying to get a better understanding of what your pump gets when you send it to a shop.

when you run a pump on a test stand 3 things are achieved usually..

1. Total Fuel Output
2. Balanced/ equal fuel output
3. Governor Speed

Other things like the AFC can be adjusted.. Rack travel is measured with a dial indicator. Barrels are turned to increase and decrease fuel output and raised and lowered to change timing. Individual plungers must reach port-closing at their appropriate timing.. It's tedious work that is worth the money.. $.02
