I'm looking at upgrading injectors, and I was curious if 2nd gen nozzles will fit on 1st gen bodies?

Yes, but a wider pattern nozzle would work better since you have the larger bowl pistons.

if the 2nd gen inj throws a narrow pattern. would a thicker copper washer help that out? to raise the injt up to let the spray widen more?

If you go from a 0.060" to a 0.090" bottom gasket, it would widen the pattern 1.5°.
