I got an 02' in the shop and it's got a knock that sounds about like a rod, the truck had 130,000mi (stock)! the knock is bad when truck is cold, and kindof goes away when it heats up, fully goes away with slight load warm!

maintains 40psi oil press, and runs great! I have checked valvetrain!

the owner blew a turbo and replaced it, and now it;s got the knock!

i am guessing a piece of the wheel made it all the way into the intake, but not sure!

the only code is a 0219 (crankshaft overspeed)

any ideas?

well crankshaft overspeed code would go hand in hand with the knock problem. probley over reved it and slightly spun a rod or main bearing...is it low on oil? if you can get ahold of a mechanics stethascope you could narrow down where the knock is coming from....although rod bearings kinda get worse with rpm's...main bearings can be drown out by the noise of an engine under load, hence why u think its going away when u put a load on it.

also is the knock high pitched or a deeper mellow knock?

the oil I dunno, it's clean as a whistle, he probably changed it when the turbo blew! but it's full now! the knock sounds like a rod knock, but when the truck warms it goes away fully at certain load/rpms, I had a stethescope on it and couldn't here anything abnormal, but the knock could be heard just about everywhere!

sounds like you are taking a hammer and knocking on the side of the block

I think I am gonna pull the injectors and run a boroscope into the cylinders and see if there is a foreign object in there! Is it possible the object is in the bowl at times and out at times causing the knock to come and go?

anyone ever heard of vp's making a mechanical racket, like a knock?

I really just want to rule out everything before I tear it down

Crack each fuel line and see if it goes away when one hole quits firing. Might narrow down your search with the scope.
