IPR Compatibility ?

I'm going to replace the ICP for the second time (1st time at 102,000 miles, now have 155k) due to intermittent rough idle & oil seepage and thought I would replace the IPR while I was in there. Is IPR part # 5C3Z-9C968-CA (CM-5126) backwards compatible to a 2003 with original programming? Are updated parts generally compatible replacements for the older parts they replace? Thanks.

Ford says no go on that. 2005 isn't interchangable.
