I have found a 12v from a 1st gen 2wd. Not sure of the milage. its basically the short block, minus the cam, tappets, push rods and timing cover and tranny adapter. It also has the assembled cylinder head with it. The problem with it is the number 6 piston is melted and some of the aluminum is smeard onto the cylinder wall. can't really tell how bad the cylinder wall is scored, but hopefully a .030 over bore will clean it up. The #6 exhaust valve is also bent pretty bad and the port is coated with aluminum aswell from the piston. The guy is wanting $150 for all of it. Is it worth it or not?

Thats what I was thinking. May just use the block and rods. Sell the rest of it and use a CR head and custom pistons, cut the intake off, p-pump with a 6.7 crank, hardend and shot peen the rods, custom cam, and then maybe drop it into my 04 for the 2.5/2.6 classes. Or just put mine back to stock and build another truck with this engine.

When I bought my short block rebuilt it had a 500 dollar core charge. I kept my old short block and just paid the 500 bucks.. I would scoop up any cummins short block for that amt of cash.. As long as there are no cracks in the block..

Well, I bought it for $175 tonight. Took a few pics of the carnage. Once I get it all apart I am going to check everything out, fix the cylinder head, and sell the crank, cylinder head and the remaining 5 pistons if they are worth selling.
