Hey Guys- I was just looking thru the website BBD just posted for the air-shut offs and Velocity stacks and pulled up this pic...

Not knowing to much about tractor pulling but is that a water nossel just above the velocity stack??? do they shoot water right into the intake like that?

Am just curious and thought someone might know the answer.

I would say water. It is common on pulling tractors to run a jet spraying into the turbo.

One thing I always wondered was I have seen some do this on intercooled tractors. Would not the boost loss and temp drop actually cause some of the water vapor to fall. Could it be raining in the intercooler? I would think you would get some water to pool up in there.

Where is Distributor? He would be the guy to ask.

Yes.. they do spray injection water at that location.

There are a couple of reasons.

First, if you notice.. that nozzle is a fan tail.. meaning it will spread the water spray out into a wide, fine mist. That mist helps "pre-cool" the air going into the turbo.

Second.. the water tends to act as a seal. It closes the gap between the turbo fins and the housing, causing the turbo to draw air more efficiently.
