My brother installed a 4k gsk and 60lb valve springs in his truck (97 with 116k on it). He removed the shims when he installed the 4k's, he also slid the fuel plate forward. Started the truck, it started right up but had a different sound, almost like a 2 step. He re checked everything started it again, it seemed better. so we installed the 60lb springs, no issues there. Him and his fried adjusted the valves. When I got there the next day he started it for the first time and it wa popping through the intake, we adjusted the valves again and the noise went away, they adjusted them wrong. After checking everything he went to fire it up and all it would do is crank. The fuel shutoff was stuck down so we fixed that. It still wouldn't start. I checked the lines at the injectors and very little fuel was coming out when cranking. Took the lines of the pump, cranked the motor and nothing, no fuel.
So I bled the lines going to the pump, hooked up the the lines and bled them at the injectors. I got it started but I had to give it about half throttle, and even then it sounded bad, like it was missing. And lots of grey smoke out the tailpipe. I shut the truck off. Started it again and the same thing happed. More grey smoke, and when you let off the pedal it just dies. Any ideas?
