finally got everything buttoned up on the truck the other day after installing my new Airdog 150 and went to fire it up... got it running and after about 30 seconds, it died.. tried bumping the starter and no noise from the lift pump. went and pulled the relay out of the harness, and seemed to be ok, so stuck it back together. bumped the starter, and the pump started running again. then got it fired back up and after 30 seconds, it dies again! go thru this process a few times, and then tried jumping the relay, got the truck fired back up and the pump actually continued to run.. what was weird was that after a few moments the truck died again, but it ran a lot longer than when i had the relay in. so i figured what the heck, stuck the relay back in, everything worked, fired the truck back up, 30 seconds later, it dies! anyone have any ideas where to start? and what this could be? im going to run a switch for now and bypass the ECM to see what happens, but any other clues and suggestions as to what to try would be appreciated!

thanks for getting back to me! but now ive got some more info to throw out there to help diagnose this.. tonight i went out to triple check all fuses and relays. swapped around several relays, still had same result. fired the truck up and jumped out to listen to the pump, it kept running! but then the truck died. tried bumping it imediately after that and the pump did not run. tried a couple more times, still nothing. so i turned the key off for a lil while, and tried bumping it again. the pump turned on and ran its cycle like normal. i checked codes again and the 1693 pops up imediately every time after i delete it. now im wondering if it still could be an ECM issue, or something with my pickup tube?

Hate to ask obvious questions, but I guess its a good place to start...

Did you bleed the line to the IP? If you didn't, its possible that you have it air locked. I sucked air once (pickup tube issue) and it would run for a short period before dying...

well not exactly.. ill try that. i didnt think about that being that i had the injector lines cracked open, but heck anything can happen! and what was the deal with your pickup tube? i want to make sure ive got mine setup correctly to prevent this in the future.. thanks!

You will more than likely have to crack the injection lines again to get all that air out. Best way to get the line between the IP and LP bled is to bump the starter to start the pump and depress the schraeder valve on the IP (unless you have a FP gauge sender there). My 150 gph FASS will bleed that like in 2 seconds. Then I would crack lines 3, 4, and 5 and turn it over. Will take a little while.

I was down around a quarter tank and I parked nose down on an incline and managed to suck some air that way. My tube is slightly higher than what FASS recommends.

i believe i can help you out on this, if you haven't figured it out yet! pm me i can explain things better over the phone.

ok, cool.ill haved to look and see if i still have the schraeder valve layin around.. i replaced it with one of those over sized bolts.. that should be easy enough.. and if my guage is correct thats about as much fuel that i have left in mine also.. im going to take more fuel out there just to eliminate that..

This sounds like you are running out of fuel somehow, possibly the return line foaming up the tank? Once the pump starts sucking foam it will run through the fuel in the system, then the truck dies. Let sit a second, foam goes down, pump picks up fuel again.

Ok after speaking with Fabian from Toxic Diesel last night, we figured out that it is more than likely the draw tube. Thinking that the best place for it would be in the fuel sending unit I stuck it in there.. Tomorow night I'm going to drop the tank again and stick the tube in a diferent location and see what happens... Hopefully that's all it is! LOL! I'll post up what happens after I get it done...

IT'S ALIVE!! Well messed with it some more with help from my dad, tried cracking lines but it still would die out on us. So I said to heck with this, grabbed my can of diesel and ran the pickup line in it and vroom it started and ran.. So dropped the tank, covered the old hole, and drilled another hole slightly behind the fuel assembly. Fired it up and there it ran. I want to thank all you guys for helping me with this and giving me some good advice to get this thing running again! But now I'm having clutch issues! Dangit it never ends!! LOL

Good deal. If its not one thing its another!

finally got some time to mess with it again, and figured out that the hydraulics are shot! this is just retarded! :bang any of you guys have issues like this with the upgraded hydraulics?

Verrryy soft pedal, and wont release the clutch.. i had my dad push on the pedal while i held pressure with both arms against the slave cylinder. it pushed against me for about an inch or so then i was actually able to hold it in place while he continued to push the pedal down..
