okay to start, i have a quad adr. nothing special, and that is the only electronics in my truck. its a 2000 w/5 speed and it just rolled 163000. i pulled it in the roughage of 20 times this summer and just de-tuned it for winter here in the last week or two. since then it has thrown the code (cant really remember the number, p16?? maybe??) but anyhow its communication lost between ecm and injection pump. now, with that said. it will be fine for the longest time, then no matter if your driving or letting it idle the tach will just drop and the check engine light comes on. it still runs fine when driving, however sometimes when you depress the clutch it will rev a little and then takes its time idleing down, it also has a nasty surge when taking off (150hp injectors probably contribute, and yes that is the de-tuned setup) now at idle it will pop like you turn the key off and back on. it also will just rev like you stab the gas petal. only one time has a code shown up about crank sensor voltage. i need some input here. is the crank sensor causing this? is the ecm going out and making the voltage to the senor jump around? or is the injection pump going? has anyone run into this before? seems right odd to me.:bang

p.s. i have never had a programmer in the truck for the fact i know the are notorious for hurting ecms. nor do i think that it has ever had one in it. as i am the 2nd owner.

you know i never thought about the apps, the batteries were dead from sitting for 2 months. im still open to other thoughts, ill try that and let you know, :thankyou2:

Try this..

Follow this procedure. It will sometimes fix your shifting issue...

This procedure has shown to help 24 valve ISB engines. It is basically teaching the fly by wire accelerator on these trucks to reread the position of the pedal and it's limits. Most complaints this will help with is poor acceleration, improper shifting, bucking in 5 and 6 speeds. Has been known to increase fuel mileage in some instances.

1. Set parking brake
2. Disconnect negative battery cables on both batteries
3. Turn ignition key to run(to drain any remaining capacitors)
4. Let truck sit for 30 minutes( this is the recommended minimum)
5. Return ignition to OFF position
6. Reconnect both batteries and secure, not a timed event
7. Turn key to run position(not start) and depress accelerator pedal slowly all the way to the floor
8. Allow pedal to return to top position slowly
9. Turn ignition switch OFF
10.Release parking brake

yeah i have done that before, all data said a 10 min wait but everyone has a different procedure. thanks.
