heres the measurements Length: 26 ft 0 in Width: 17 ft 4 in Height: 13 ft 10 in Weight: 12000 lbs. There is a guy needs a disc hauled in Illinois I think its big but I think it could be done. He is worried about it weighing 12k and not being able to stop and I said thats not a big deal Im not going down the interstate. I was just wanting some opinions should I do it

at 17 ft. 4 in wide, you are gonna need a super load permit to be legal arent you , along with a few escorts and state police escort. The height is over legal too. Watch them low bridges>> LOL

Not for a farm implement, no permit needed. I would drive the route first to make sure that you are not going under any low/narrow bridges. As for stopping it you won't be rolling that fast anyway, so stopping should be easy enough. My cousin has one a little bigger that he uses and to get it under the interstate we have to unfold it part of the way and lower it down, blocking all traffic on the road.

Until they find out your doing it for hire. Then I don't think it is considered farm.

exactly. If its his, thats another story. Even if He is hauling it for free, its not his or his farm so he needs to be careful. The fines for this are stupid high... Im not trying to be like some guys and start preaching about doing it illegal. Im just saying , he better figure out if its worth it ? All it would take is, for someone to hit him. The DOT would have fun with you. Be safe and let us know how the trip goes.

I had the same disc a couple years ago an pulled it fine. The only thing you need to worry about is the negative tongue weight incase it starts to bounce. My truck was a dually an had a full toolbox an transfer tank in the bed. If your worried just throw some extra weight in the bed.

I decided not to do it because it has to go a good distance and I dont want to risk it.

Where is the disk and where does it need to go? I'm from central IL, I might be a little closer than you in Lafayette...

If it's anything like out here the whole "ag" excuse only works if you're within 100 miles of your property.

ya Im sure thats how it is and with my truck being from Indiana and Id be hauling in IL it might be obvious. If it was local around me where I know the roads Id be up for it.

VERY CAREFULLY !! LOL

with out permits I mean. You tow an 10ft wide machine with out a permit around here the DOT cops are all over you like white on rice.

I cant get away with it either, DOT would hammer my azz. I know farmers are exempt from alot of the rules and regs. but hauling it for hire is a whole different game.
