im just thinking about running this setup with a stock turbo and sligthlymodded tranny. whats you guys opion on this set up willl egt's be too excessive and how will this tow thanx

How heavy are you going to tow?

What do you mean by "slightly modified" ?

You will get warm towing on a stock hy9 turbo (01 truck or 01.5?) You will also slip the transmission at that level.

Its not excessive, but you will have to keep an eye on the EGTs. You have far more control with your right foot then you do anything else on the truck. That is how the 12v guys have done it for years. Just keep that in mind, and you will be fine.

i wont be towing much manly a 2000lb boat and on rare occations a 500 gallon diesel tank in the summer. im mainly looking for better drive abilty and milage plus make it a little more fun to drive.

Don't get to crazy with the Smarty.
It fuels hard down low and the torque produced feeds on un-built trannys.
