Has anyone ever had it come out and not damage anything???? I just went to tab mine and it is MIA? I'm a little confused at the moment......

Sure someone prior to you didn't pull it out? I would put in another though heard they tend to still crack after being removed. I have seen one in the oil pan once. No carnage what so ever. Pretty amazed at it. 97% of the time they crack the case.

they must have more that i think about it. you would still tab it even tho there is nothing in the hole to fall out?

I would get a new dowel, install with some red loctite, then tab it.

there is a great KDP kit on PUREDIESELPOWER.COM 65 bucks

Save the 65 bucks take a small piece of stainless or aluminum and make your own and make sure you use red locktite on both the bolt and the dowel pin.

I bought a '98 12 valve engine in San Antonio that was missing the KDP. There was a very small gouge in the gear case and a scratch on the front cover. I bought a new pin, tabbed it and put 97k miles on the engine before I pulled it.

Last month a pulled a pan on a 12V due to pan gasket leaking. As I took it down I could hear something rolling around in the pan. After getting it out from under the truck, there was the KDP laying in the pan. No cracks in the front housing area just a couple of nicks from the pin bouncing around until falling into the pan. I told the customer he was one of the very few lucky ones.
