I just got done installing turbo downpipe and cat delete. While doing this and complaining about the fiberglass from the factory heat shielding and deciding next time I do this I will do the exhaust in one and send someone else down to cut down pipe out. Oops to the point. Why doesn't the factory put on at least an nice and smmot 3.5" downpipe rather than trying to engineer all of the bends and dents into the factory dp. It would have to be cheaper only two bends and two flanges two pipes and easier to install and more factory power. No? Probally beating on a dead horse but was curious.

I think the OEM's have to have a certain amount of clearance around stuff that the aftermarket guys don't...so they'll do weird bends and crimps to amintain that.
That's my theory anyway.
If you think that's bad....check out an 08 Super Duty's intercooler piping.
