I have a 1996 12v 3500 with 5 speed. It is not really a trailer that i pull heavy with but i do tow a few cars every now and again. I installed a puck clutch and replaced my hx35 with a bd super single. the plate is cut to 0 and the afc is gutted. it has intake and big exhaust. It runs good but just isnt enough for me. I have had alot of fast fords and am kinda new to cummins but know a little about them. what needs to be done to mine to get more power with out spending much money. if afc ok gutted ? should i bump my timing up? any help would be great thanks

Ok you need to first put your afc back together and search for afc simplified to modify it and tune it. It will spool the turbo better trust me I've been there done that. If you want to do timing you could torque your stock head bolts or get studs and only go to 16* anymore and you might blow a headgasket so I've heard.

Definately put the afc back together and tune it. I have a 95 seet at around 16.5* and my 96 is set right at 20*. Have not had trouble with either on blowing the head gaskets. Only retorqued the ones on the 95 but have the 96 studded.

look for some upgraded injectors, i love my 5x12's for smoke control and daily use. But thats just a baby injector by this sites standards! haha

i would bump ur timing to about 16* thats a good place to start and put that afc back together and modify it like they said and def retorque head bolts i normally do like quarter turn on them and if u r not getting enouh fuel fast enough then u need some delivery valve work it will get real snappy
