Just put 0.093" lines + tubes! It SUCKS!

I just put some stainless 0.093" lines with connecting tubes on my truck. It was pretty much needed it anyways and I went with oversized lines for when I get a monster vp. Well, I am guessing I need to lower the injector pop off pressure considerably. I was running 35 psi boost at 2000rpm with smarty on 6, now it is under 24psi at same rpm. Also no real cool lope, mostly erratic idling. Plus the lines were so far off the factory bends that it looks like a rats nest under there, very disappointed, one line was out almost 2 inches. You can forget about keeping them from rubbing. Worst $750 I've spent yet on my truck. I could have made better lines bending with my bare hands. At least I am not loosing half a gallon of fuel everywhere I park now!

Since their so chitty, you might as well let everyone know where not to get them from. I like the part about doing a better job bending them with bare hands. lol

what injectors are you running??? that could be your problem

also everyone I've talked to has had the same issue, including me, when it comes to installing these lines---they're just not bent right, they're a pain--to get them to not rub I use some tubing I slip around the lines in various places...chris

I am running only 90hp BD sticks. Also I just found a missing bolt under the throttle/cruise control cable bracket that went into the plenum on the top of the head. I got a few psi back, but still it is not what it was. Also the truck seems to be runnin a bit better after I drove it around for awhile, but this is still a modification I wouldn't do unless a monster VP or P-pump was going on. Bigger connecting tubes seemed to help the throttle response a bit, but soon as the 0.093" lines went on with the .093 tubes, it all went for a SH*T.

Anyways, like I said, I only put larger lines on because I plan on going with monster VP in a couple months when my income tax return comes in.

Thanks for the tip Chris, I will get on that tomorrow.
(it does make everyone look when the truck stumbles around idling)

I think your injectors are to small for the lines---

just some things to go over--

you did put back both gaskets on the grid heater??

you did tighten all innercooler hoses right??

check all those intake plenum bolts again to be sure and all other bolts for that matter...

it could be something else loose that's causing boost loss so check all those innercooler hoses and all clamps and your exhaust manifold bolts---just to be sure---and also make sure you didn't accidentally unplug something when doing the line swap----chris

Chris,

I did get a check engine light when I first started the truck up after bleeding the lines. It was an improper voltage to the map sensor (voltage too high). I cleared the code and it hasn't come back. I will look into it tomorrow, I wonder if I damaged the map sensor plug somehow when I was wrestling with the injector lines.

I like my lines and tubes from Haisley, feels like more top end and smoother power.

The 12v .093 stainless ones I have came from Scheids. They are absolutely the worst bent and assembled lines I have ever used. Not one line was cut the same length and the bends made installation nearly impossible and very frustrating. The truck runs worse with them on than the stockers. All they did was lighten my wallet and give me some shelf dust collectors.......Andy

What kinda pump u run Andy? 215? If they weren't bent so poorly I'd take them off yer hands. I'm running a 13mm pump with stock tubes.

I still don't understand why people buy these things when the stock parts are proven to work just fine well into the 600+ range. They usually cause all sorts of funky idle issues, they don't seem to fit right, and I've never once seen a dyno sheet proving that they actually added power.

Well Since You Asked So Nicely....
I actually bought mine to help with the under hood detailing for show season.Since at the time they were purchased I could not find any Cummins chromed lines and I didn't have a extra set to get chromed,I figured the .093 stainless would help with looks and keeping them clean over the winter.I have since found a couple of sets of chrome and had a set show chromed(triple nickel plated),Thus the reason they will not go back on.I have one more set here and I will have them powder coated for wintertime and just switch them unless I find the 05 truck in Yellow I am looking for.

Paul...
I run a custom built 913 12mm pump which feeds more than enough to my truck.I wouldn't want to have anyone pout these on their truck as all 6 injector lines are a different length and cause issues when the truck runs.I made some silly purchases but these lines had to be one of the biggest mistakes.I will never figure out why a quality shop like them allows such substandard parts to ship out their doors.......Andy

You seem to be the exception. Most people buy them thinking they help when there is a TON of info on almost every site I've ever visited that says otherwise and I hate seeing people waste their money and time to buy something that doesn't work.

lines

for perfect lines call greg young at zz fab. the ones i had bent up was comparable to the factory quality!! exact length, nice bends, NO JUNK!

BgBlDodge...
I am not the exception, just may be the one who speaks his mind when it comes to things like this.I know of other local owners who have had issues with their lines and have had them replaced or they tossed them away.I also know that Fulmer has said repeatedly that the big lines kill power on a dyno and I have seen that fact first hand myself.

not sure about the high pressure lines, but i put some .078 crossovers in my truck and picked up 8hp/25tq

Exception being that you bought the lines for looks, not power.

Nice parts addition. Now you need a Dragonflow VP44 and some BIG sticks.

whats a dragonflow vp44? is that just II's name for the HRVP44 or is it something new?
