It seems some do some don't kinda hit and miss...... Only one way to know for sure, pull your front cover

I only know of one guy on here that it happen to and it was his fathers truck. But the only true way to find out is to pull the front crover.

My 99 had it. I found the dowel in the oil pan when I was doing my p-pump swap. Luckily it didn't screw any thing up.

i fixed a gear cover on a 01 once

The dowel in my 24v was still secure in the block, but the case was of the style that it would fall out if the dowel was loose. Fix it before you have to put a new (hopefully a 12v) case in its place.
