First off, I know I'm an idiot, had the truck for about a year, got the kit, but haven't fixed it yet, my fault. Let's move on...

So the KDP got me.

I was out and about when I came out of the store I noticed a puddle of oil under my truck. It appeared to be the crank seal. I drove it home (no unusual noises or anything else except oil leaking).

I got around to fixing it today and found the cover looked craked.

When everything was pulled off, there it was, the dowel pin sitting there, cover broken off, but at least the gears looked good.

Mine broke in the same place except the pin went out through the side. A lot of work to fix it now.

Just tig the front cover back up..

I've done it but usually you have to pull it off anyway to get rid of the oil mess or it keeps containating the weld. it got me once and that will be it. any more i get it will be the first order of business

Just tig the front cover back up..

I plan on doing that for sure.

Its a lot of money, but I'm thinking while I'm tearing everything down I might as well replace/upgrade some things.

My list:

-Colt Big Stick cam (181/210)
- recrown my tappets.
- ARP Head studs
- 60lb springs
- 4k GSK
- Valve job, mild porting/cleanup on the head and spring setup and rocker machining for the studs.
- New head gasket (marine?, 0.020" over?)

Anything else I'll need or should upgrade while everything is apart? Gaskets, ect.

Will it be easier to just pull the motor since the front of the trucks already off?

Colt suggested drilling/tapping my cam for a retainer, is that necessary and/or worth the $95?

It seems like its going to be.

The best part is my degenerate self dropped that last lifter in the pan.

The thud of it hitting the bottom made me see red...
