should i pull the front cover on my 94 to check the KDP it has 240k and not sure what has been done to it yet

x2 on the yes. mine hadnt moved but ive seen the damage they cause. the peace of mind is worth it

That's a big yes. Mine just let loose at 285k. Gonna end up costing me at least $600 to fix the problem. That really sucks when you buy the whole truck for $2200.

i will pull it down when i get back from this short trip the army is sending me on

Just did one today and it was sticking out of the case alot when we pulled the cover. Tap it in with a punch and use a decent flat nose punch to peen the alum around the hole. Near miss on this one. We just picked up the truck and that was the first thing done before any other work.

i will probably build a tab to cover it and install it under the bolt next to it

Ouch!! Pics? I spent less than $120 on my kdp damage/fix. I had the gear housing tig'd back together.. So the only money I spent was on the gaskets/seals.

mine went at 145,000 blew a nice chunk out of the cover, i just bought a new cover that had a blind hole there. so the pin could never come out agian. found the pin on the front of the cover under the water pump.

My "new" truck has 509,000 on the odometer, but I looked any way and it has already ate the KDP, but did not break the cover!
