Well I got my conversion project all most done now and for the first time I can hear it clear my 24V (99) has a knock in #6.....

I canceled the cylds and have isolated #6
swapped #1 &#6 injector and the knock remains at #6

any ideas this motor has been sitting for almost 4 years now
fires right up and purrs smooth at glass but the knock :hehe:

it has yet to be driven yet do yall think its fuel and will flush out?
or is the #6 oil sprayer plugged and is the piston getting (or has received) damage?
 
Could be a few things. Have you pulled the head at all? Is it a solid knock or loud tap?
 
Is it pretty loud? I've been there done that with my 01, my squirter plugged... Pulled the head and pan, then pulled piston and rod honed the cylinder and replaced the piston, been great ever since lol
 
Ya when mine was knocking I took a video on my phone to send it, and it as the only thing you could hear, you do a compression check?
 
Usually loud knock is rod piston related. Tap is valve or fuel related. This is Usually lol.
 
Yep but there is some good to this (i guess) iam due to be in vegas on tuesday for sema so iam dropping it off at local diesel shop for a full rebuild so when i get back i will be golden. woot woot
 
an exhaust leak will sound like a loud knock and number 6 exhaust bolts are known for comming loose. Might be worth a look.
 
ya they were loose!
caught them the first time I laied eyes on this thing :lolly:

had a real "expert" come out and do his thing and hes going with bad piston and oil squirter :doh:
