So engine was at temp, hammered on her a little, heard a slight noise and then the knocking started//possibly ticking. At idle you cant hear, as the rpm's get higher so does the noise, as it shifts into the next gear they lessen, if you are going downhill and let off the gas and just listen to the noise it will prgressively get less noticeable as the rpms lessen. Started by pulling the inspection cover to look at the flex plate, looked okay after a couple cranks. pulled the vavle cover and all were oiling okay and pushrods looked fine. So what should be next? Switch out injectors to see if that is it? Really dont want it to be a spun rod bearing, but cant locate the noise at idle or with pressure on the pedal.

Could be a big crack in the exhaust manifold, but usually if it is that, then it should go away after a couple second coasting after you let off the throttle. That also depends on how bad the crack is. I warped the manifold on my old 04 a few years ago. Sounded awful but when i let off teh throttle it went away or if i got alot of heat into the manifold dogging it, the manifold would swell up enough from the heat to seal the crack up enough to make the sound go away. Once I let off the throttle and got back into it, the sound was still there.

no cracks in the exhaust housing......as of last night lost the tach for about 30 seconds as the check engine light came on, then the tach came back up....thinking about the crank position sensor?...also gonna switch out injectors tonight and see if that does anything
