Laminate Flexplates

I use one from Source. (laminated) They use the same in their drag truck. No fitment issues.

I had no fitment issues and broke my output shaft without having a problem with the flexplate...

I have a PRW and I know of a couple other high hp trucks running them without any issues so far.

Somebody posted about the CAT plate a month or so ago....I remember asking how he got a HD flex plate for so cheap ($100). I plan on ordering one as soon as I have the extra cash just to have around for whenever my stocker decides to take permanent vacation.

I installed a PDW plate into a local truck that runs mid 12's and no problems so far... I was impressed with the quality of the piece.

Lavon

With what one?

Yep, you're the only person I heard running one though, just making sure know one else has had any problems. :Cheer:

What sold me was my buddy actually... 5+ years of pulling (everything else has broken except the flexplate) lol

when my stocker went -- it cost me $200+ for the tow home and the truck was down for a couple of extra days

I have a gooseneck and a phone book full of friends with gooseneck hitches. ;)

I'm not really worried about mine checking out right now I doubt I'm over 400HP since I'm only running a Quadzilla. I'm thinking in the future...I eventually want to hang a 3B or S475 under my stocker and get a set of 150hp sticks. But that's WAY on down the line from now. ;)

i here you -- i was 1.5 hrs away from home broken at the track......... with the wife- hahahahhahahhaha

Been there done that. LOL Except it wasn't me.

My cousin drove his 92 F250 to northern KY on 36" bias ply super swampers. I got the phone call the next day on his return trip home. He lost about an 8"x12" section of tread off of one of his tires. Hooked up to the goose and away we went a short 5.5 hrs later we were back home with the truck and all it cost him was a tank of fuel in my truck....and a whole lot of :kick: from me! LOL :hehe:

One thing to check (I'm lazy and didn't look) is sfi certification if you'll be needing it.

try 700 miles away with the wife and kid. I had a laminated plate.......went to Indy and my second pass down the track all hell broke loose.

Come to find out all the bolts backed out of the plate. On further investigation, this particular plate had too much coating ( I call it lamination ) and when it was heated up cause a void behind the bolts.

Luckily the builder ( Jeff Garmon ) was there racing himself.... pulled his wallet out and said.... go buy yourself a plate. ATS happen to be there moving their product and I've have a billet ever since :-)

the moral of the story.... " loc-tite them bolts !! " and remove any material on the plate that might interfere with the bolts bottoming to the plate.

I seem to recall that TY.:hehe:

I had one in my daily driver and broke it. Mine was from suncoast, they quit selling them. I bought a billet one and not trouble since.

yep.... I was new and didn't know a sole. Had it not been for you and your brother stepping up to help, we would have been even more stranded than we were. I still can't thank you guys enough for helping out !! :Cheer:

Luke is another I owe a bit of gratitude to. Had he not pulled my truck to the back of the track.... I never would have been able to have the photo shoot with DW.

Mine was also a Suncoast which was one of the better plates at the time. Apparently not anymore.

so ty- your truck was shot for the mag- with the trans f'ed? lol

yup- first time the stock plate broke at the track- week and a half later the wife came back the return road from the track and said "something doesnt sound right" (trans) got towed back again.........bolts backed out of the flex plate

got 40+ passes now- loctite the crap out of them lol

I have been running a Suncoast laminate since the get go and have a ton of passes on it and I haven't had any problems with it. I was curious about the cheap ones out there though and whether they would hold up or not.

yep. It still drove but, sounded like someone tied 50 steel cans to the truck as I drove it LOL. Luke pulled me to where the shoot was and I had to adjust my truck to several angles with it sounding like that. Then Tim ^^^^ ( hummins cummins ) hooked me up with his brother Chris who owns a large transmission shop in Indy, he and an employee of his both came in on Sunday to fix my truck. That is the diesel community at it's finest !!!
