Leaking .120 Stainless fuel lines

make sure the line is on straight...other than that you might check to make sure the line isn't cracked...

Yeah I thought they had to be on straight. The guy at Scheid diesel in Lafayette, IN said they don't have to be perfectly straight. He pressure tested them only at 10 psi. and said they were fine. I'll take another look at them tomarrow and see if I can bend them to line up better, if not I'll just go directly to Dan Scheid. I'm never going to Scheid in Lafayette again.

Thanks for the input!:thankyou2:

Taken from another site, This happend a week ago

[/QUOTE]What a frigging night tonite.....

I get back from my trip in fairly reasonable time.Unload my large unit into my small unit,go inside and drop out then come out and leave.I notice when I start the truck it appears to be huffing on one cylinder a bit and just ignore it as I figured it was due to the cold and dampness, bad idea.I start for the house after it warms up a bit and begin for home.I make it almost all the way home and that minor miss I had is now a full fledged miss and I got another issue now, fuel spraying all over the windshield from under the hood.I find a safe spot along 83 to look at it,leave it run,pop the hood and get a fuel bath of my very own.

Those nice looking, wonderfully shiny, very expensive .093 stainless Schied injector lines I have, well number 5 has broken and come out of the delivery valve holder.WHAT A FREAKING MESS,FUEL ALL OVER INCLUDING ON ME,GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!.Shut the truck down a look my options over and come to realization no one can come out and rescue me so I had to run it the last 6 miles home.To say I have a mess is a understatement, fuel all over the truck sides, windshield, back the doors, all underneath it,man am I pissed.

Stuck the stockers back on and will have to call Scheids tomorrow.I have one line broken, and two more cracked weeping fuel.Nothing like a set of $500 fuel lines which 3 crack or break in less than a year. I just give up and wonder when I will get a break.Sorry for the rant I needed to vent........

Wow!! Thats pretty bad. Did this happen to u or did u just find it on a forum

I was goin to a truck pull when mine started leaken on #1. When I got back home from Clay City, IN to Crawfordsville, IN . I too had a mess under the hood Diesel fuel everywhere. Mine was missin pretty bad too. I was just hopin I'd make it home with out breakin a u-joint or startin a fire. If this happened to you. Did you get urs fixed without having to pay.

It happend to another member. He told me he sent them back for repair and that stock lines may be remaining on the truck for good.

I talked to dan scheid today and I'm sopposed to get mine replaced the day after Christmas. So I hope all goes well. I'm still gonna keep my old ones handy.

Best thing to do is, Take the line off put a drop or 2 of motor oil on the taper, the threads, the od of the line down where the nut bottoms out, next lightly tighten it on the end thats leaking, Start movin the line around (1/4 turn ccw and cw) and burnish it in.. I have had to use a junk injector with some valve lapping compound on the really tough ones, the SS is pretty hard.

As for the cracked oones,Did you have the lines clamped together? They need to be clamped and attached to something solid or they will break everytime.

Yeah, I had them clamped together, but who ever bent them didn't bend them right because all three lines were touching in different places, when I got them out of the box and mounted so I had to take them of and bend them a little. I'm not sure clamping them together helped much either because they were off so much and had a lot of tension. but i agree they should be clamped down to something solid. thanks, I'll give the oil a try.

That member was me...
They are Schied .093 stainless lines bought through one of their distributors here in Central PA.The front three fit like a glove and dropped right on,the rear three never fit correctly and I had a rough time getting them on.Once they were on they ran for about 6 months until this happened. All lines were clamped and held and vibration did not cause it.

The bells on the lines were not correctly fit for the delivery valve holder, two of the lines split at the bends where they attach to the P-Pump and the one broke then just sprayed fuel all over me and the truck.I also checked the lengths of the lines and all 6 are different lengths and are all shorter than stock.I always wondered why the truck shuddered when it idled after doing the install of these lines. To say I am disappointed with their shoddy work and craftsmanship of these lines is a understatement. For the money I spent they should have all dropped right on and should not have failed.I hate to think if I actually used my truck for something other than a daily driver and show vehicle what could have happened.

I contacted the place they were purchased from and they are supposed to get with Scheids but as of this date nothing has been heard.I will keep you up to date when this gets resolved.I am going to think hard before I reinstall them when I do get this righted as the truck runs so much better with the stockers on.........Andy

Hey Andy,

I got mine replaced today. I live about an hour from Scheid in terre Haute, so i just drove there. they took my old leaking ones and gave me new ones. I am not to happy about the lines either. none of mine would go right on I had to bend everyone of mine a little more before I could put mine on. and then I had to bend them all more after I got them on because they were touching each other, and touching the valve covers. What part of pre-bent lines do they not understand? The three I got today I had to bend more than the original ones I had. But eventually I got them to work. Will see how long these last. I'll let u know if anything happens. If I were u I would just contact Dan Scheid like I did, through emails. I bought mine through Haisley Machine but sence they were made there, they replaced them. U gotta be keep on him though I had to email him twice before he would answer my email. I imagine there is a lot of people having this problem.

Is it asking too much to install them on a model or on a truck to make sure they are right before they ship them out?

keep me posted. hope u get em fixed

Scott

I apologize, to Dan Scheid. He is a good Christian, with good intentions. Apparently I was expecting to much of this product. It is normal to have a little spring in the lines. So please disregard any of the negative statements before. They took good care of me. I would recommend their services to anyone.

My .120 schied lines leak too from the same place yours does...Did Dan make it right with you? If so i'll send mine back.

He sure did, but I didn't get to test them out long because shortly after, I blew the head gasket, but I have faith in them. I'm sure he'd be glad to help you.

Did yours come clamped together?
