I've sprung a leak from my DHD transfer case. Its coming from the rear output seal. I have replaced the seal twice and still no luck. I welded a bead around the back of the slip yoke as suggested by a friend. There is just a plug in the back of it and nothing seals it. What am I missing? It would really be nice to go to someone's house and not leak trans fluid all over their driveway.

Are you sure that its not leaking from a higher point and making its way to the output shaft seal? Or you may have worn a groove in the slip yoke and need to replace it.

I ask this same question a while back and didnt get much response.....

There is a wear bushing on the inside of the tail housing on the T-case that wears and allows the yoke to walk to much for the seal to work.

Anybody finds a good source for the bushings, let me know, I need one as well :bang I have tried the local dealer and had no luck, they could only get the entire tail housing. This same parts idiot also told me that just the sending unit for the fuel tank was unavailable as well, so go figure.

How big of a market would there be for said wear bushing? I have a shop I deal with that does strictly four wheel drive parts and drive-train. I could ask him about a source and go from there?

had the same issue a couple of years ago. on top of the tailshaft housing, have you replaced the rubber plug? when it goes bad, it will leak fluid all over the place! i went through 3 seals, and it still leaked! then found out that that dang rubber plug was the culprit! try it and see if that works.. hope it does!

I originally ordered mine from a local Aamco, but they gave me the one for the DLD.

I think I got the correct one from Quad 4x4.
