Today was a really nice day for a sled pull. I went down to help a friend out. He ended up doing way better than expected, his truck rocked. But the highlight of the day was the 7000+ rpm Cummins that must have oversped the charger and sent it through the hood. Im not going to say who, as he like to keep low key on the forums. It was a different charger since the last and he wasn't sure what to expect out of it. The track was a bite dusty and loose, he left @ 6k and 20ft out it came to life like now, and then BOOOM !!
It cut a 5" hole in the hood like it was a beer can and sent pieces of compressor wheel and housing flying. I do have a vid but it's old school Hi8 and I dont have a cable to convert it...yet Ill post the pull of the diesel trucks when I can.
The idea of me pointing this out, is not to bring light to someone elses misfortune. That wasnt an en expensive charger, But to ask if anyone has thought of a chain-mail wrap for a turbo, or another way to shield it. I know this dosn't happen often but all it takes is one time for someone to get hurt. I know it scared the heck out of me, and I was 80ft away.
