i just got my tranny built and got a single disk billet converter and have a lock up switch hooked up but isnt wanting to work??? followed how to hook it up right and everything. anyone have any ideas what i can do???

i know there was a guy who had issues a few months ago.....make sure your resistor is a 10 ohm or a 33ohm whichever was recomended for your set up. and not a 100 ohm or 330 ohm.... i noticed at radio shack they are next to each other in the drawers. you can look at the stripes on the resistor and decode the resistance...just search for the breakdown of the colors.

It wont work unless modifications to the valve body have been done to allow it to lock up in 1st and 2nd gear. I dont know what those mods are but i do know that it will not allow it to unless the valve body is setup to do so.

the place i found the digram to wire it up didnt say anything about a resistor to be put in any where. it also didnt say anything about vb mods needed. i just got done having a reprograhming kit put in the vb the biggest kit transstar has so its been moded now

what wire did u go to and do u have a good ground? i think it is orange with a black tracer.

ya its orange with either a black or white i cant rember. the ground should be good tested good with a test light. it only told me to tap the wire and ground it with a switch in the middle. i have been fighin with it for a while now. maybe i got a junk switch???

yea thats all i have too. i have a suncoast vb.
what did u do to your vb it wont lock up stock i dont think

no what hes trying to tell you is a stock valve body wont lock up on command without modifying it.

Yep, make sure you pulled the relay and put in a jumper wire.

Also, the stock valve body WILL allow lockup in 2nd, 3rd, and overdrive in the transmission. But you CANT lock it up with the gear selector in manual "1" or "2". It will only manually lock with the gear selector in "D" with the stock valve body. The downfall to this is when you are pulling, you cant keep the trans from wanting to shift to 3rd and have the converter locked at the same time.

ya i got to put the jumper back in and see now that we have built it and see what it does. the vb isnt stock anymore its been drilled and respinged and everything. plus im fighting with it locking and unlocking around 40 mph just cruzing i have been told its the altinator goin back and the wiring is mixing signals in the loom and need to pull it out and seprate it from the loom. anyone else haveing the same problem??

You need the resistor in line to the ground or it sees a dead short and puts the tranny in limp mode.

make sure all your battery hook ups are good and tight and clean. i had a lose one and my tranny was all over the place
