Well i had the hood up the other day on my 07 powerstroke and the coolant was low and there is this white stuff all over the place around the cap. It took about a gallon of water. Just got sct with ID tunes and love it, but i just left this morning to go to the state shorthorn show pulling my 24-foot with 2 bred hefiers with the tow aggerisive tune and it pulled great, but egt's were a little to warm for me. We stop at whataburger and i decided to check my coolant there was white stuff over the battery and the whole driverside under the hood. so i took the sct off, but why would i be losing coolant and what can i do to fix it?

what does your oil look like and the level

what where u making for boost

may be a head gaskit

presser up your cooling system see what is does and then take the cap off do you see bubbles in the coolant while the truck is rumming

Oil level is fine, i just changed my oil filter last saturday.
boost stock will go to 31 pulling and with the sct it was about 35 to 37
whats my problem?

Head gaskets are leaking or the egr cooler will boil the water inside it. Do an egr delete and stud the heads. When I worked at FORD I changed a lot of head gaskets for nothin due to the egr cooler boiling the water.

6.0s are known for blowing coolant out of the bottle, especially when you have a load on them. Make sure that you don't fill it up past the MIN line on the bottle (that's the new MAX line according to a recall).

There are a couple things to make it better such as headstuds, an EGR cooler delete, and extra coolant circulation lines, but those are not a sure fix. Most just live with it unless you want to tear into the engine. My truck does it as well when I have a trailer behind it.

Who sells the best egr cooler delete for the least money?
and where can i get arp studs?

don't know about the egr but i would call chad at allgator poformans on the head studs

I went thru all that. Come to find out I was cracking my heads. Ford will not check for this under your warranty. I found one that will. Replaced heads 4 times ??? Been without a program for 25k with no problems or puking.

I don't think it was my falt the heads where cracking, I never pulled anything heavy. I think it was a factory flaw. Just don't want to go thru that again. Maybe one day I might try the SCT.

Maybe the res. was a little too full from the factory, Clean the white spots up and see if they return before you assume the worst. If the coolant level stays near the "Min" mark you are ok

If your looking for studs, Greg Houge sells them and he has a pretty good price. Several site sponsors carry them also.

Ford Gold that they put in is what I would and do stay with. The level on mine stays way below the add mark and stays there, add any and it will puk. I can just see the it in there.

Dealer just did the lastest flash that reprogramed the fan to help with the puking. By the way, a FICM module is not covered under extended warranty.

get that egr cooler plugged up in the up-pipe....weld that egr valve shut as well....that took A LOT of mine away....now MAX line is a thumb below min. line on bottle....

first coast diesel performance sells a great kit....i just bought the pipe...and welded my valve shut....it's all you need IMO...keeps exhaust OUT of the center of the motor and keeps heat out..

My buddy has an '05 with an SCT with canned tunes, and has puked twice so far while towing 16K pounds in the tow setting. The first time it puked, the coolant was at the min level on the degas bottle. We finally got Elite diesel's EGR delete pipe(sneeky pipe) installed that block's all exhaust going into the egr cooler. So before he left for his next tractor pull i turned the truck back to stock to if it would do it in the stock setting and i made sure the coolant was about an inch below the min line. I thought for sure that this would cure the puking issue with it being in the stock setting, but it didn't. When he got home from the pull i had seen that the truck had puked again and couldn't see anything in the degas bottle. Is there anything other than blocking off the egr cooler or doing head studs that will stop the truck from puking while towing heavy loads? Or is there anything else that will cause puking? I've got my EGR blocked off along with hypermax fire rings and studs on my truck, and don't have an issue with puking.

full egr delete..

but whats his oil and water temps running while puking..it could be a clogged oil cooler or a cracked EGR cooler.

Oil and water temps run normal while towing. There is nothing in the oil and it is at normal level. I was thinking maybe head gaskets, but oil looks fine. The truck is going to the dealer tomorrow to be looked at.
