Hi guys,
I have a cracked timing gear case and was waiting to fix it until my injectors came in (1 to 2 weeks out).
I was going down the road and heard a knock develop and I looked at my oil psi it was over 40 so I checked it and it was about 6 quarts low.

Got it back to the shop and prepared for the worst.......overhaul.

Removed the front end and just got the timing cover off and found 2 teeth broken off the vac pump gear.

I'm assuming that's the knock I'm hearing, but because i went low on oil should i pull the pan and check the mains and rod bearings ?

Also is that vac pump gear serviceable or do i need to buy the whole thing ?

Thanks guys

I check the the oil every 10 days apparently the leak got exponentially worse, never said I never checked it .

The kdp was missing before I owned the truck, after inspecting the gear case I found several cracks that were repaired with jb weld and a few that werent.

If your oil pressure was over 40psi, you have no worries. Should've been lower than that with that much oil gone though.

So the dowl pin got the previous owner and did a cheap fix. Now you have to tear the engine down for a rebuild.
