I have quite a bit of trans work done to my truck. Transgo shift kit, 48RE parts, added clutches, etc.
Anyhow about a year ago I smoked the torque converter I had. It was a single clutch disc and couldn't hold the power.
I put in a triple disc low stall unit from Transtar. Works great, but the problem I have is when the truck is cold, it will stall when I put it in gear. I end up having to give it some throttle while putting in gear and even then I have to fight with it some days.
I think it's just that it engages hard enough that the motor doesn't have a change to rev up a bit to deal with the added loaded. Kind of the same if you dumped the clutch on a manual trans truck.
Is this common on a low stall converter or maybe there is something I could do in the valve body??
