Can you install the mack plug with the pump still on? I noticed there's a place cut out in the timing case behind the plug.

The mack is a bit to long compared to a stock plug, you can grind some of the cover away and do it, but it's not the right way of course.

You don't have to remove the pump. Plenty have been done by grinding the timing cover.

Professional or hack makes no diff to me.

I'll take the clean look thanks.

I've done 2 of them with the pump still on the truck. I agree on saying no to hack jobs, but by taking my time when cutting I believe it looks factory and is not that big of a deal. Just my 2 cents though.

Maybe it's me but in say in 30 min I could have the pump slid back to install it, that is engine TDC found and no distractions...then bump the timing for free!

I usually give them both options and they will usually take the grind the cover one. Grind it nice and even and hit with some factory paint when your done and can never tell with it under the RAD hose. But most of these trucks around here arn't SEMA trucks neither. I've done it both ways and grinding the cover is definetly 10x quicker.

If you want to swap the plug quickly grinding is the only way. I like to test things so grinding is the way I chose. These trucks are not barret jackson classics guys, if you're worried about asthetics to this degree you purchased the wrong vehicle lol:p
