Picked up a turbo off a E7 mack engine the other day.

Mod S400S041 p/n 631GC5153MX

Measures roughly 65mm inducer 74 mm exh. 1.40 T6 housing on it.

Im pretty sure its a standard S465 turbo. From searching on here ive gathered that i can put a .9 T4 exh housing on it. What im wondering is on the interchangability of compressor wheels and covers on these. Im pulling in a 2.8 class with the truck and would like to put a 71mm ETT wheel and race cover on it if its possible. It looks to me like maybe the centersection would need to be machined for the bigger wheel? Im not sure if this is feasible or if i would be better off just getting another turbo.

Thanks, Josh

Cant say I remember any E7's with a 1.40 a/r exh housing... odd Most were S300's with the same demension wheels and a .90 housing.

YOu can do that, if it is an s400 like your describing, but your looking at around $175 or so for a wheel, $175 for a turbine housing, and about $300 for a race cover.

If it's like the mack S400 that I've messed with, the turbine wheel is not the same as the standard S400 or the S400sx...77mm exducer is what I've seen.

Im pretty confident it is the standard 83/74 turbine wheel. I read some old posts by muddindude, he was running the same turbo and i believe he put a standard .9 t4 housing on it. The turbo i have is the one with the long snout on the compressor cover and a funny looking 3.5" hose outlet

So is the bigger compressor wheel a bolt on? Or do i have to do some machining to the centersection? And where is a good (cheap)
place to get wheels and housings?

Thanks for the help sorry im still learning about this turbo stuff.

I had a custom .8 wategated on mine. Forced Induction has wheels for cheap and will do the machine work and rebalance reasonably as well.

Cool. I thought i remembered reading that you went to a .9 later on for small twins or something but i could be wrong. But can you confirm its a standard turbine wheel and stuff? I will check out forced inductions thanks for the info
