Simply just flip it over, I had some hardend washers that fit under nice with a slight gap that gives a some pre-load......cost almost nothing.

Don't have anything on that, other than a couple of posts I read on one of these forums thought they seen some evidence of cap walk at around 800 - 900.
Then I read back a while Scheids were only using main studs, so that says a lot.
On my trashed block its pretty shiny under the caps, not how I remembered it when I put it together....all the bolts were good and tight, except for the 4 bolts surounding the throw that cheese grated the piston out the side. They were stretched a bit.
Frankly I don't know if I've even heard of a failure of the bottom end yet......Browns broke a crank, or bent it, don't know all the details but thats next I suppose.
I'd like to see counter weights directly on #2 and #5 instead of transfer through.
I don't like the metal to metal contact, of the bolt and the plate. It might work just fine, but if it moves just a little, maybe even just a little vibration transferred to the bolt head your gonna be putting metal shavings in the pan.
think about that for a second...there is tons of metal to metal contact in the engine at rpms or speeds way higher than a slight vibration caused from a bolt head on smooth metal...

Yeah I thought about that too, but there already is lots of steel to steel in the engine, rockers, lifters, cam. And these are active parts, I don't see this as very active and its oil bathed as well.
Maybe a bit of steel polish during operation I imagine, metal shavings I doubt it.
I would be scared... Brandon
