i have a buddie that wants his 6.7 to be loud, whats the cheapest but safest way to do this?

The DPF delete doesn't make it *much* louder, but it does change the tone.

Well do what you would do to any other car.. get rid of anything restrictive like the dpf or a muffler and it will be louder BUT dont expect your warranty to stand if you do so

My 6.7 is loud, just like my '01( the differance is the motor is real guiet, so therefore there is less overall noise). My truck has been heard from up to 1.5 miles, but i have noticed that sence the tip is so far back it is quiet to me. I f you want to hear yours have a buddy drive it and you will think different

Stephen, don't try to fool us with the "buddy with a 6.7" why don't you sell that pos ford and get a 6.7, like you have been dreaming and talking about. haha, just poken, who's got the 6.7 anyways?

I will be completely deleted by this weekend, cat, dfp are already gone, and I'm having twisted diesel in VA Beach make me a double flared straight pipe today to delete muffler.

I can post a youtube video of how it will sound once I've hung the pipe.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Muffler is deleted. Sounds great, classic Cummins sound upon take off, not obnoxious loud at all. No louder than stock between 35-60 mph with normal throttle input, just slightly louder in cab above that. Never gets too loud in cab with windows up, but sounds great resonating against objects.

BTW my truck has no factory piping left except the over the axle pipe and downpipe. OEM downpipe will probalby be next to get replaced.

I have a couple of buddies around here that have straight piped 6.7s and I don't think they are quite as loud as the 5.9s. I believe it is because of the exhaust manifold with the exhaust brake and the VGT turbo. I would like to hear a 6.7 with a 2nd gen manifold and a non VGT turbo. I bet it would sound awesome through some 5" pipe :rockwoot:
