truck is an 02, what is involved and what do i need, not sure if im gonna do it but it has crossed my mind and need some more info is all for now.

Hell if somebody has a documented full built auto and has the necessary swap parts and what not i might consider swapping.

mine has 50K on it, NV5600, Valair DD 3600, has breakin time only and 2 hooks to the sled.

i have been thinking about doing this myself. i have came to the conclusion that a wrecked doner truck would be my best option. then you have the right computer, wiring harness, t-case input shaft needs to be changed, driveshaft lengths changed, adapter plate between the engine and trans. lokar makes a nice shifter that you can use that will still go thru the floor, or you could change the steering column. ats makes a stand-alone computer, but for the price of that ($1500), adapter plates, input shaft, driveshafts, shift linkage, you would probably be cheaper with a doner truck

cnsmoke has done it. Said it was pretty easy. If he doesn't find this thread you might PM him about it.

wiring harness, new tps, pcm, trans.mount bracket, linkage, rear yoke for trans., column or shifter, brake pedal for auto, and of course a built transmission.......

Could you do the swap between a 98 12v auto and a 2000 24v stick? Is a new APPS required for the 24v, and would the PCM work? I would still need an auto harness though?

Find a truck with the same options and drivetrain, park them side by side and start unbolting stuff and swapping it over. If you want it to look and act like it came that way you are going to basically gut both trucks and rebuild it. Another option is to use a 47RH with a standalone controller, then all you have to really change over on your truck is the clutch sensor to the park/neutral switch and the reverse light sensor. Also have to rig up a TV cable, but that could possibly be added to the existing APPS. Beyond that you'll need the crossmember mount, driveshafts reworked, T case input changed.

thanks, I have scrapped the idea, don't really feel like reharnessing the truck

If you go with a 47RH you won't have to, that's the route I was looking at right seriously before changing my mind.
