map sensor?

I did some searching on here and didn't find exactly what I was looking for so sorry if this has been covered. I have a 99 24v all stock with an edge ez on it, I unplugged the map sensor today mostly to see what would happen. The only thing I noticed was a barely noticeable increase in smoke before boost, other than that I couldn't tell any difference. I had no c.e.l. or loss of power. Shouldn't that have triggered a code? Or does it have to run for a long time unplugged? I was trying to troubleshoot a random loss of power that I'm hoping isn't a vp. Thanks, Craig

if you think its the vp what fuel pressure are you running and how old is the injector pump, these pumps will fade over time til they just give out, some owners dont even know the diffence they fade so slowly others just up and die fast. the ez is only 65 hp it would smoke alot more if you had the comp. just how much power loss are you talking

I dont know how old the pump is. The fuel pressure was 1 psi so I put a Fass 95 on it now its 15 psi. That didnt change the power issue at all. Sometimes it runs good, other times it feels like the box shuts off, I thought it might be the Edge so I unhooked it on a bad running day and it lost even more power. i dont know how long it ran with low fuel pressure so that makes me lean towards the ip, but no codes. I'm getting close to just putting a 12 valve in it:bang
