i searched and found that it says its a visco damper... is that like a fluid damper? if not what exactly is it and is it better than a stock damper?

not all marine dampers are viscus, i have 2 sitting on the shelf that are solid, they are smaller and look a lot differnt than the truck dampners. i would imigan any viscus dampner would be better on a solid

yea i did some more searching out side of the site and found that. thanks. i found one for a marine 5.9 and was wondering. i thought thats what it meant but wanted to make sure.

so is a marine damper just as good as a fluidampr or ati damper? here is the Cummins part no. 3918999

The following is Cummins' description of the part.

Vibration Damper
Engine Family: B Series
Effective Diameter (MM):
173.76
Damper RPM Limitation: Below
2649
Damper Type: Rubber
Pulley Type: Cast 8 Groove
Front PTO Provision: No
High Inertia Damper: Yes
Structure Code: 02 EBM
Additional Pulley Provision:
None

One thing about the fluidampr is that it has an SFI rating on it.

I have 12V Cummins marine Visco damper, there is small problem: no tach signal holes .

Stock dampers fail rather quickly with high rpm...vibrations + rubber = heat, heat = rubber failure LOL

thanks.. i just reread your earlier post that said it was a rubber damper.. it said it was a viscous damper. oh well.
