So I always fought blow-by issues after my head swap and twin install. they were done at the same time. after about a year and a half of swapping suspension i'm going to tackle this. I have oil coming out of the exhuast ports, blow-by tubes, exhaust poipe and oil fill. i also have what sounds like valve slop on the front two valve covers. but tonight i went out to check to see how much blow-by i have coming out of the oil fill and i heard what sounded like a high pitch metal ting that increase's with the rpms. i know what a valve tapping sounds like and i know what a fuel knock sounds like but this sound more like a dinner bell. could it be i need to re-do my valve adjustment or is it something more along the lines of seals or seats? the head has 60lb springs, TI retainers/keepers. o-ringed, valve job heres the for sale that brandon (seller) had posted 12V Head, Ready To Bolt On HP - Competition Diesel.Com - Bringing The BEST Together

sorry for the long post

I wouldn't be too concerned about the "ting" sound. I was concerned about mine so I listened to a few other 12V's. Everyone I checked sounded exactly the same. I've put on 30,000 trouble free miles since then.

I'd be more worried about the oil coming out of the exhaust ports...

the truck still runs like a raped ape and im still getting great mileage but it just bugs the **** out of me the amount of oil the truck leaks. i can probably bet that my undercarriage will never rust

If you think you have a blowby issue run a slack tube manometer test.

The ping coming from the oil fill tube is just the cam and pump gear making noise. I left my fill tube off for a short drive between timing changes and I heard that kind of pinging, then i put the oil fill back on and it went away.
