I'm building a motor for my pulling tractor it has an 05 motor. This motor will only run 3000 rpms for class rules. I want to know if i should put in a cam, I'm planning to cut off the intake manifold and port the head. I can run a 3.0 charger i was wondering if anyone recomend's a certain builder as well. I just want this motor to not melt down.

3.0" charger and a 3000rpm limit is going to be a very tough road to travel IMO. If you are going to the trouble of cutting the intake off and completely porting the head add a camshaft, they are worth it.

What kind of class has a 3000 RPM rule expecially with Tractors?

here is the tractor from last summer we had PCM problems and and finally had to just by a manual pcm to get the smarty to load and still never got my own tntr smarty program to work. Yeah 3000 rpms make engine builds cheaper and upkeep down imo. You got to remember these are rules built for all kinds of tractors, not all rev and live cheaply like a cummins. Thanks for the help. Do the aftermarket cams help that much at 3000?
i pull with HTPA in east central IA
