I am rebuilding my motor and getting ready to put in in the truck and wondering about motor mounts.

Have any of you replaced them before putting your motor back in? and have you used stock ones or after market and what kind?

Reason i think to replace them is cause from pulling i can see where my intake horn kinda rubs on the hood from the torque and broke the handle off the oil dip stick

I just put the energy suspension motor mounts in. Dont know how they do yet but they seem nice.

I had one heck of a time with my energy suspension mounts. After grinding on it for an hour to get it to fit , i gave up. And put the old ones back in. That was a wast of money.

I'm also in the market for some. My motor flexes terrible, and when it starts I swear it does a full revolution under the hood.

i didn't have that much trouble with the fit, it was much more of a pain to get the mounts loosened and out of the truck. took 3 hours to do just the passenger side. haven't tackled the other side yet, letting the bruises settle, lol.

Bumping this back up looming g for more answers. What has everyone done? Mines flexing way more then I like

Just go solid mounts and be done.

Go solid and you risk a major chance of cracking the block. I used energy suspension mounts. You have to be careful and order the correct ones for your truck tho. I order the mounts that they said worked for my truck...long story short, I ended up sending them my stock mounts so they could make a new mold because they were unaware that there was a different kind. Everything should be straightened out now with the company tho. I got mine for free for helping them out and they paid all the shipping! haha

I would never run solid engine mounts. You would be putting your block through unnecessary stress.

from phone

Solid mount on driver side, stock mount on passenger side, been running that for 2 years now with no problem at all.

No vibration problem, and also no more intercooler boot problem on driver side !!

Energy inserts. Was a tight fit but I would rather it be that way.

I also beefed up the brackets and welded a thick washer on the drivers side to prevent the bolt from pulling out of the slot.

I am going for a bit more then the average joe however.

did you notice less motor flex after you put them in?

^^^i felt that the motor didnt torque near as much...or it did, but it seemed to take the truck along with it, that was after a long winter motor build too tho

So how do you tell which are the "right ones for your truck"? Their site lookup guide is being updated. This is for my '98 24V. I am making an order tomorrow for rear leaf spring and sway bar bushings and might as well do motor mounts too. My engine feels like it flops around too much shifting.

I put the poly bushings on the rear springs in my other 2wd truck and it made a noticeable improvement, less jiggly feeling over rough stuff and actually improved ride. . . didn't increase road noise or vibration at all like I feared.
