How many people pull with M/T's?? I am gonna try to pull this year will some Summit mud Dawgs 305/70/17. I was just wondering if I am running a high risk of breaking stuff? I was thinking about selling them and going with some Nitto Teraa Grapplers 295/70/17. What do you all think? Think I'll be all right with the Mud Dawgs or should I go ahead and take a hit on the M/T's and get the Nittos?

I pulled with a set of 285/75/16 tera grapplers one time last year and will never pull them again. Track had a light mud film on the surface and those tires turned into mud balls and would clean out or bite.

I think the mud dawgs will be ok

Nitto's =:badidea: If you go with a M/T though you might want to make sure its a lesser aggressive M/T than most.....one good hard track and you will be bouncing all the way to breakage!

I run with BFG MTs and they seem to work out great. I have nothing really to compare to but once the truck is back on the track I think I will keep the MT duals out back and switch to a BFG AT up front with a little wider foot print.

I ran the Cooper STT's and had plenty of traction, Couldnt get it to spin out at the end, always powered out. They dug nice ruts, thats for sure.

I've pulled with ProComp MT's, though that was back when I only had 350ish HP....

Would it be possible/recommended to somewhat control the "bite" of an M/T with higher air pressures?

I don't see why you couldn't, I ran a set of Dayton Timberline M/Ts. I would just air up hard on a good stiff track, and lower the pressure on softer tracks to get a better bite.

All right the M/T's I can just air up on a sticky truck and then air down on a soft track. So the Nittos are not good at all? When my brother pulled he always did real well with them. I am as for a mud tire yeah they ball up he was always stuck everywhere.

We ran the Goodyear MTR's most of the year and had pretty good luck with them. Also tried the BFG AT KO's a few times. Didn't notice a huge difference between the two, but I guess it would depend on the track.$.02

What about the Toyo M/T's? That is what I got and was curious how hard they would bite and How much $ they would end up costing in the long run.

it is hard to go wrong with the bfg at

Is that why there's Dynapro's or Hankooks (I can't remember?) on your puller Joe!?:poke: LOL

im going to start this year using a set of BFG mt's that are about 1/4 -3/8 tread left. last year i had toyo at's. not real good, but they were ok. most guys around here use bfg at's or truxus sts, not a lot of mud tires.

I heard truxus STS bite pretty hard. Thought they would bite as hard as M/T. I think I should be fine with the Mud Dawgs they will have about 50 percent tread left on them by pulling season. Then I don't know what I am gonna do. The Nittos are very cheap and I like the way they look on these truck. You guys say they aren't worth a crap pulling though?

The Toyo M/T & The Cooper STT have a very similar tread pattern. Wildmanben said a that they worked out good for him. From what I've seen price wise the Cooper STT will cost less than the Toyo. Only catch is that you can't get anything bigger than a 265 STT with the load range E. They go up to 35" with the load range D though. :D
I saw alot of the Trxus STS around here a the last sled pull that I went to. They did pretty good too.

How bout you try a set of Mickey Thompson Baja ATZs with the sidebitters, I have a set of them on my truck and think they are an awesome all around tire. They have a pretty aggressive tread pattern but are not so aggressive that they would be considered a mud tire.

Well, common sense told me yes, but I was wunderin if it would/could affect wheel hop more when runnin a higher press. on a tacky track?? You notice any ill effects runnin that way??

beleive me....you'll have better luck with a less aggresive tread. Look for an all terrain tire with alot of syping. Wheel speed wins truck pulls!
